Maidstone Museum is one as one of the best in the South East of England. Its home is impressive too. Chillington Manor is an Elizabethan manor house built 1562. Its rooms and halls are now filled with the museum's collections including coins and medals, egyptology exhibits, and human, local and natural history artefacts. The art gallery has an impressive range of works from Dutch and Italian Old Masters to contemporary British paintings. The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regimental Museum is also here.
