Maidstone Town Hall was completed in 1753, and built originally as a Magistrates Court. Today, it houses an excellent visitor centre as well as Maidstone Borough Council. Guided tours can be pre-arranged in person at the visitor centre or by phone. They usually set off at 11am on the first Tuesday of every month. Highlights include 18th Century prison cells - still sporting prison graffiti - and a finely decorated Council Chamber.
