I am a Maidstone man born and raised and I have seen it grow and prosper over the years. Since the 1980s the town has moved away from industry and has developed into a shopping Mecca with two large complex The Mall and Fremlin Walk at either end of the historic Week Street. Hundreds of shops selling virtually everything you could possibly conceive of. There are, of course, also dozens of excellent restaurants, bars, cafe's and attractions including Brenchley Gardens, Mote Park, Leeds Castle and Hazlitt Theatre.   - Patrick Boniface
