One of the most impressive buildings in Dover is Maison Dieu. In 1203 construction started of Dover’s current Town Hall, Maison Dieu but its original use was as accommodation to pilgrims. In the centuries since then the building has served in many different capacities, as a jail, music hall and its current use as Dover’s Town Hall. Maison Dieu can be viewed from the outside at any time, but permission must be sought to inspect inside.
