Max Miller was one of the pioneers of early music hall theatre. He was famous for his extremely risqué performances and his gaudy outfits. Miller lived a great deal of his life in London where he worked in some of the great west end theatres. However he was born and bred a Brighton boy and it was because of this that the statue was commissioned and placed close top some of the finest theatres in the centre of Brighton.
