With the River Medway coursing through the Medway Towns it is no surprise that the area has a strong tradition of rowing continued today by the Medway Towns Rowing Club. The club was formed in 1958 by the coming together of three separate clubs. The club has a modern and well equipped boat house on the banks of the River Medway at Rochester on a site once used by Shorts Brothers to make flying boats during World War Two.
