The Memorial Park was laid out in the 1920s as a World War I memorial. An obelisk remembering those who died is approached by an Avenue of Remembrance, a path lined with horse chestnut trees, which commemorates World War II. Attractions include a boating lake, a children's play area, tennis and basketball courts and football and cricket pitches. The Park also has ornamental flowerbeds. In 2007, it’s the focus of an extensive restoration project.
