This is the first cranked stress ribbon bridge in the world, and only the second ribbon bridge in the UK. The award-winning steel structure has a self-supported walkway designed to harmonize with its rural site, where the river is flanked with mature woodland. The bridge has two walkways, one of 49.5m across the river and another to the side of 37.5 metres. The bridge was opened in October 1999 and it links Maidstone Millennium River Park to the Lockmeadow Leisure Centre.
