Newhaven is an important port town in Sussex, and because of its proximity to the sea, has of course always enjoyed an important connection with the maritime industries. The museum was opened to the public in this location at Easter 1996. There are many fine exhibitions for visitors to enjoy, which include a selection of model boats, historic archives related to the sea and a large collection of photographs.
