Faversham was once at the forefront of the manufacture of gunpowder but today the mills that made it have all disappeared. The most complete example of the gunpowder mills can be found at Oare Gunpowder Works, which have been preserved as a country park. There are four levels of walk around the park designed for everyone to enjoy, including those with disabilities. The park is open, free of charge, all year round.
