During the Second World War St James’ church was hit and destroyed by the German artillery fire and it has remained as a ruin ever since as a memorial to the people of the town who lost their lives during the conflict. Construction of the church started in 1860. Today the remains of the church are near to Dover Leisure Centre. There is no car park at the church plenty of spaces can be found a short distance away.
