Winner of the Gulbenkain Prize for museums and art galleries, the most prestigious arts prize in the UK, Pallant House Gallery recently battled against museums across the country to be named Museum of the Year 2007. This hidden gem of a gallery in the back streets of historic Chichester, houses one of the best collections of Modern British art outside London with big name artists such as Peter Blake, Richard Hamilton, Andy Goldsworthy, Walter Sickert and Graham Sutherland. Part eighteenth century Queen Anne townhouse, part contemporary new wing designed by the architect of the British Library Professor Sir Colin St. John Wilson, there’s an incredible mix of old and new and spaces to satisfy all tastes.
