The Queen Elizabeth Bridge is one of the largest road bridges in the United Kingdom and spans the River Thames. It is the most easterly river crossing of the great confluence before it meets the sea. The bridge which is 450 metres long was opened in 1991 to help ease congestion in the existing Dartford Tunnel which runs under the river. The bridge is without a doubt one of the most spectacular feats of engineering in the area.
