During the Victorian era the Kent and East Sussex Railway ran all the way to Robertsbridge, sadly today Northiam in Kent is its last stop, but this did not stop the establishment, in 1961, of the Rother Valley Railway Museum in Robertsbridge. The popularity of steam railways means that a growing number of volunteers at Robertsbridge are working to re-establish the missing link of railway and at the museum volunteers are on hand to explain how this will be accomplished.

Any railway enthusiast worth his, or increasingly her, salt must at some time visit the Rother Valley Railway Museum at Robertsbridge. There is an amazing amount of railway carriages and trains and other stuff and all within what is quite a compact site. Everywhere you look you see yet another classic shape or feature. I must have spent at least two or three hours here chatting to the charming and knowledgeable staff members about their collection. A wonderful day out.
