Sanderstead War Memorial stands close to the main road junction that leads traffic into the centre of the Surrey suburb. It is a simple yet extremely poignant memorial to the people of the borough who lost their lives in the two world wars of the 20th Century. Many made sacrifices and many died in order to preserve the basic freedoms and liberties that we take for granted in the modern British age of peace and plenty.
