The beautiful village of Sandhurst in Kent lies halfway between Hawkhurst and Rye in East Sussex and is well worth a stop if only to look at the unusual clocktower. The clocktower dominates the village green and was erected as a folly in 1889. The parish built the clocktower to honour one Arthur Oakes Esq and Justice of the Peace who lived in the village. The clocktower can be viewed from the green although it is not possible to gain access to it.
