This lighthouse is one of the most striking landmarks on top of the White Cliffs of Dover, and is far more than just a building of interest architecturally. It was the place where Faraday did a great deal of his pioneering work connected with electricity in lighthouses, and this was the first to display an electricity-powered signal. Marconi also used the lighthouse for his wireless telegraphy experiments in 1898.
