This fine statue was commissioned to be put at the heart of the new shopping square when it was redeveloped at the end of the 20th Century. The statue of a cricket player was designed and built by Allan Sly and commemorates the great love of cricket held by people in the area. In fact Sussex County Cricket Club play some of their games on the meadows behind the shops.
