A church has stood on this site for over 500 years; there are references to it in Edward IV’s Court Roll of 1475-78. However, the current building, designed by local man Charles Sloane, has only been in existence since 1731. The previous building was destroyed in the town fire of 1727. One of the most notable features of the church are the Nave’s stained glass windows, depicting the life of the Native American Princess, Pocahontas. These were given to the church in 1914 by the Society of Colonial Dames of America.
