St James Church at Grain lays claim to being one of the many churches around the Medway towns frequented by the famous Victorian novelist Charles Dickens and has been used in many television dramatisations of his novels. The stunningly beautiful church dates back to 1815 and today provides for the spiritual needs of the community as well as being a central meeting place. The church is located next to St James School and a large playing field.
