Visitors to this striking flint church are often surprised to learn that it is substantially the same today as when originally built in 1325 on the site of an earlier Saxon church. The vicar’s vestry, the oldest part of the church, was formerly a Lady’s Chapel before being converted to a private chantry complete with squint so that church services could be observed in seclusion. Slightly older are the aisles which were rebuilt in 1386 following the earthquake of 1382 and the 14th to 20th Century stained glass windows.
