This beautiful tranquil garden and 13th Century chapel are amongst one of the most visited attractions in this area of the region. The River Darent, creating a moat-like effect, surrounds the garden. The chapel was once part of the former Commandery of the Knights Hospitallers of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, established here in 1199. The chapel and the gardens are overseen by the National Trust to ensure they are maintained and preserved.
