The village of Aldington near Ashford in Kent has had many famous residents including the authors Joseph Conrad, Ford Madox Ford and Noel Coward all of whom visited the parish church of St Martin’s. The church dates from the 11th Century. The church is positioned on the highest point in the village and about half a mile from the centre of the community. The church was added to in the 14th and 15th Centuries and completely renovated by the Victorians.
