St Mary in the Marsh, situated in the heart of Romney Marsh, is surrounded by stark beauty. The church, dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, was built on the site of a Saxon church. It is Norman in construction and parts of it date back to the 12th Century. Inside is a plaque to Edith Nesbit, author of "The Railway Children", who is buried in the churchyard.
