St Mary the Virgin Church in High Halden is a most unusual church. Originally built in the 10th Century the church stands on top of a hill in the small village, but what makes it unique is its tower and spire. Over fifty tons of prime oak was used the construction of the eight sided structure. Massive wooden beams support the spire that was restored in 1835.
