St Mary’s Church in the picturesque village of Shalford near Guildford in Surrey is interesting because of the site’s long history. There has been a church here since Saxon times and the present church is at least the fourth to be built. It was built in the Victorian era but in a 13th Century style in honour of its historical roots. There are some examples of 15th Century stained glass and the Chancel has memorials of the Austen family.
