St Nicholas Church, just north of the main shopping centre in Brighton, is the town’s oldest surviving building. The church was originally built in Norman times, but the current architecture dates from the 14th Century. The interior of the church houses a drum shaped font carved from a single piece of Caen stone in 1160. The graveyard reveals the resting places of many well known Brighton Regency figures such as Martha Gunn and Captain Nicholas Tettersell.
