St Nicholas Parish Church in the pretty Sussex village of Bramber is the oldest Norman church in Sussex, and contains original Norman capital carvings on the chancel arch pillars, one of only three churches in the country with this feature. The church was built in 1073 by William de Braose as part of Bramber Castle, the ruins of which are owned by English Heritage. Visitors are welcome and refreshments can be provided by prior arrangement.
