Located in the charming setting of Stanmer Park, just north of Brighton, Stanmer Church is sited by a little village pond and serves the tiny hamlet community of Stanmer village and at the opposite end of the scale, the thousands of students at Sussex University. The original church on this site was destroyed by fire in 1838, and when the church was rebuilt, many of its original contents were saved and are today housed inside the present building. By the church, an old wheel house contains an old donkey treadmill. The donkey-wheel is said to be the largest in size after that in Carisbrooke Castle, IOW.
