There has been a castle in this area since the time of William the Conqueror. A Saxon saint founded the local church, and therefore the community has a long and illustrious history dating back many hundreds of years. This permanent collection houses many Saxon relics that have been discovered, including some fascinating buttresses that were saved from the church, weapons and ancient instruments.
