The Swan Inn Memorial Garden was planted shortly after the Second World War as a lasting memorial to one of the oldest and most famous public houses in the town. The pub, which was a popular haunt with locals was destroyed by German bomber planes in 1943 during a particularly heavy nights bombing. The garden is now a place of peace and tranquillity, used by locals and tourists alike.
