The Pavilion Tennis Club was first formed in 1888 with its first courts being located in Brighton but in the early part of the 20th Century land was bought in Hove that had previously been used as a brick quarry. This was transformed into 8 grass tennis courts. In 1956 the club joined with another close by to become The Pavilion and Avenue Lawn Tennis Club. Today the club has ten courts with four under floodlights and a welcoming club house and bar area.
