Map
The Three Daws is reputed to be the oldest pub in Kent and is a Grade II listed building. It was originally known as the Three Cornish Choughs due to its links with the pilgrims crossing the river to get to the shrine of St Thomas in Canterbury – the three Cornish Choughs appear in the Canterbury coat of arms. The seven staircases and three underground tunnels that lead from the cellars are thought to have enabled smugglers to avoid capture by the revenue men and the sailors to escape the press gangs.
