The Tolkien Society was founded in 1969, and is the primary literary society celebrating the life and times of JRR Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit amongst many others. The archive is open to the public by appointment and contains an extensive collection of Tolkien’s early works and foreign editions of his books, as well as newspaper cuttings and commercial products inspired by the author.
