Archibald Mclindoe came to East Grinstead and established a medical facility in 1939 in order to serve the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. In the 1970s, a series of surgeons at the hospital decided to found a museum that tells the story of the hospital, and the particular connection with the armed forces. There is an extensive photograph archive as well as historic equipment from the hospital on display.
