The Volks Railway was the first public electric railway in the world. Opened in 1883, the railway designed by Magnus Volks has been an institution in Brighton for well over a century. The railway runs along the seafront and carries passengers from the the main terminal at Madeira Drive close to the Pier all the way up the coast to the Marina and also stops at the Aquarium. The open carriaged trains are a great joy to travel in on a summers day.
