Built in 1810, this friendly local church was the first non-conformist place of worship in the beautiful market town of East Grinstead. Wealthy local merchant and shipbuilder John Burt paid for the building of the church and laid the foundation stone himself. The church has had a turbulent history, often becoming the focal point of sectarian disputes between the townspeople in the past. The church is now a peaceful place and a great example of early nineteenth Century ecclesiastical architecture.
