Woking War Memorial stands at the heart of the Surrey town. It is in its own right a beautiful piece of sculpture, but of course the meaning behind it transcends the stone from which it is carved. It marks the great sacrifices that were made by the people of Woking during the two world wars of the 20th Century when many went to war and never returned in order to preserve the freedoms and liberties that in the modern era we take for granted.
