Abergavenny is surrounded by hills and one of the most imposing is Blorenge on the far side of the River Usk. This massive hill rises to 559 metres above sea level, but it is an easy climb from a lane and car park off the B4246 between Abergavenny and Blaenavon. From the summit are superb views of the Vale of Usk and Black Mountains.Contouring the north side of the mountain is a tram road built in the 1820s to carry iron and coal from Blaenavon to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal at Llanfoist.
