Founded in 1883, Cardiff University is a dynamic and successful centre of higher education with an international reputation for high quality teaching and research. It occupies a central position in Cardiff and the popular Students Union can be found next to the Cathays train station; it has shops and a nightclub that supports a variety of acts. Famous alumni of the university include Glenys Kinnock (former wife of Labour party leader, Neil) and news presenter Huw Edwards.
