Fan Hir is a long, sweeping ridge in the Brecon Beacons, with an extensive cliff running throughout its length. A very popular walk starts opposite the Tafarn y Garreg pub, on the A4067 Brecon road, a mile north of Craig y Nos. This excellent walk follows a footpath along the bank of a stream up to the ridge and along the whole of the escarpment, to the summit, which is marked by a pile of stones. From this point there is a breathtaking view of a large corrie lake below it. The path descends to the lake and then back to the road.
