The Guntower Museum was built in 1851 to defend the massive Royal Navy Dockyard at Pembroke Dock from the feared invasion by Napoleon. Unfortunately all such Martello Towers became follies as they were never used in battle. Today the Guntower Museum is open to the public throughout the summer months and displays inside include period cannons and models and histories of the two hundred and fifty ships built at Pembroke Dock for the Royal Navy.
