Llantwit Major beach is a short drive or a twenty minute walk from the village itself and is extremely popular with surfers. Due to its popularity as a surfing mecca, a Surf Life Saving Club was established which always welcomes new members. There is a carpark, toilet facilities and a café and, as part of the Heritage Coast, visitors are able to walk along the coastal path which stretches for 14 miles along the Glamorgan coastline.
