From the end of the road about a mile south-east of the tiny hamlet of Llanddeusant, which lies about 5 miles south of Llandovery, a rough track leads for another couple of miles to the lonely Llyn y Fan Fach (Little Fan Lake) which lies underneath the towering ridge of the Bannau Sir Gaer (Carmarthen Fans). This delightful lake, stunningly blue when the sun shines, is a spot to enjoy superb views of the surrounding mountains. The sense of mystery is only deepened by the local legend of a beautiful woman who emerged from the lake to marry a local farmer.
