Longtown Castle stands on the Welsh border at the base of the Black Mountains.It was established in the 12th century by a local Baron, William de Lacy. It is a very peaceful place today surrounded by quiet rural landscapes and flower gardens.The castle is now little more than ruins as it was abandoned in the 14th century, although it was temporarily used in the early 15th Century during the Welsh rebellion led by Owain Glyndwr. Entry is free and there is free car parking.
