Below Manorbier Castle is a small, round dovecote that would have been part of the de Barry estate. Dating from the 13th Century, it is well preserved and has a corbelled roof with an opening in the top to allow access for the doves. It would have held hundreds of doves in its rows of nesting holes on the inside walls. The doves and their eggs provided a useful source of food in medieval times. This interesting building is just a short way up a track that starts on the opposite side of the road from the Manorbier Beach car park.
