Montgomery Castle
Station Road, Montgomery, Powys SY15 6ES - Wales, UK

Map
Montgomery Castle was begun in 1223 by Henry III and given to Hubert de Burgh in 1228. The Mortimers held the castle throughout the 14th Century and was sadly demolished under an Act of parliament during the Civil War. The extensive ruins are protected by Welsh heritage and there are signs and information boars on-site that teach visitors a little more about the history of the area.
