Monmouth boasts a fine collection of Nelson material bequeathed to the town in 1924 by Lady Llangattock. A dedicated admirer of Nelson, she spent much time acquiring items and memorabilia relating to the admiral. The collection includes many of his letters, some to his wife, and his sword. There are also some fake artefacts, including Nelson`s glass eye. In the museum, there is also a local history section.
