The New Theatre is situated in the city centre close to the Civic Centre buildings and is almost 100 years old. Although it is only a modestly sized theatre it has an excellent repertoire of performances including drama, comedy, opera and pantomime. The theatre offers Talkback sessions which give theatre-goers the chance to ask questions about the performances they have been to see. There are workshops and short courses available, and the theatre has bars and a restaurant selling light snacks.
