The dams of the Elan Valley were built in the 19th Century to supply water to the people of Birmingham. Pen-y-Garreg Dam is one of four dams in the valley and is just one of the many beautiful sights in the area. Its large, impressive structure tells the story of how ingenious the Victorian engineers were. Visitors can take a walk to the dam and climb a set of steep steps to view it from the top. This effort is well worth it as the scenery is breathtaking.
